Qigong Healing For Back Pain When I was twelve years old, I was run over by a trailer on a farm. It ran over the entire right side of my body from my leg up to my lower back and over my right shoulder. The trailer was being pulled by a Jeep and I was on the hayride until I fell out. When the trailer hit my mid-back, I let out a scream, then went unconscious. I came to hearing voices of the other kids saying, “he’s dead, he’s dead.” I got up and was scraped, bruised and battered, but amazingly, no bones were broken.

Two years or so later, my spine began to grow crooked. The doctors said I was developing scoliosis. My back began hurting, constantly. I dropped out of sports and started dropping out of my life. The pain was intense. I needed to find a solution. Western doctors said they could not help me. They eventually told me that I would be crippled by the time I was thirty years old. I turned to alternative medicine practices including chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture.

I, also, began studying martial arts. I was being bullied at school and some of the other students began taking advantage of the fact that I had been weakened. Martial Arts, although very painful, helped me get back on my feet. I was introduced to “hard style” Qigong in my Karate and Kung Fu classes. We learned how to use the breath and the mind to break wood or brick, as well as learned how to protect ourselves from kicks, punches and other strikes. My first doctor of Oriental Medicine blew my mind with a magical practice called Medical Qigong. Medical Qigong is a form of energy medicine and a form of acupuncture without needles.

I began diving into all of these practices in an attempt to heal myself and my spine. After ten years of practicing and experimenting with these arts, I was unsuccessful in healing my back and my spine. I began to dive more deeply into the subtle practices of Qigong. I began working with my breath and my energy or what is called Qi (pronounced chi).

Qi is said to be a universal life force. It can be thought of as energy. Qi is said to ride on the breath. It enters the body through inhalation. This is not the only way in which qi enters the body, but it is one very important avenue. At twenty-five years old, I was told by my physicians that my spine looked like I was eighty-five. At that time, I began dedicating more time to the subtle practices of Qigong. I trained with various master teachers and I was able, through the practice, to create a surging feeling of blood, energy, and changes in the breath. After several such experiences, I happened to be going in for x-rays and it was the first time I had ever seen my spine look normal.

It was an exciting moment. Qigong practice allowed me to not only heal my spine but also allowed me to become a healer. My hands began to surge with energy. I began facilitating healing for other people. It also allowed me to go on and receive black belts in three different martial arts and counting.

There are over 3000 different styles of Qigong and, like martial arts, there are many flavors to choose from. I have learned Qigong from a Kung Fu perspective, Tai Chi perspective, from a meditation perspective and a medical qigong perspective. So I have a unique blend of many different exercises. It’s awesome because I hit things from many different angles and I also teach a style that to me anyway, is never boring. I, also, now teach people to not only heal themselves but also to heal others.

For information on how to heal yourself, check out my new book on Kindle “Qigong for Beginners: Your Path to Greater Health and Vitality” by David J. Coon. I, also, have at least seven videos on Amazon with titles like Qigong for Beginners and Qigong Challenge. These are pretty in-expensive resources and give you a lot of good energy and options. Here is a link to one of my FREE youtube videos: https://youtu.be/alWzCmjc_q0 Welcome to Qigong practice! Best of Luck! P.S. We do teach Qigong and Medical Qigong CEU workshops in several locations around the country.
