Does Qigong really work? Yes, Qigong has been practiced for over 4000 years for Qi cultivation and balance. People are drawn to Qigong for self-healing, for healing for their loved ones, for relaxation, for preventative medicine, for meditation, for stress relief, for high blood pressure, for exercise, to support their training for martial arts, and even recreationally. There are numerous reasons and benefits for Qigong Exercise and Medical Qigong Therapy.

What is the point of Qigong?

What is the point of Qigong? Great question! The point of Qigong is to cultivate qi, thereby increasing energy for all that life has to offer us. Cultivating qi benefits us in so many ways, such as increased longevity, vitality, overall health, and well-being, to name a few. Qigong is often practiced and referred by Medical Doctors to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve anxiety and depression, relieve insomnia, improve bone health, and more.

Qigong is also used as a way to begin a day so that one has greater productivity. That is why many companies in China require Qigong practice at the start of a workday for their thousands of employees. These companies would not spend money and time having their employees practice Qigong every morning if it did not help. They would not throw money away for hundreds of years for no reason.

Why is Qigong Popular? In this photo Qigong Awareness students are performing Qigong Exercises during a workshop in West Palm Beach, FL on the grass near the pool.

Why is Qigong popular? Qigong is popular because it is so easy to benefit, right from the start and all the way until our final breath. Basically, the benefits are exponential, and there are no negative side effects. In fact, if you were to practice Qigong just for insomnia, you would end up with so many positive effects that you would likely forget that insomnia was the reason you had originally started Qigong 10 years ago, for example.

I myself started Qigong when I was recovering from a knee injury. At the time, I did not know that my entire ACL ligament had been torn from the bone. However, Qigong & Tai Chi were the only forms of exercise I could practice consistently without my knee going out (unable to walk). Practicing Qigong & Tai Chi for this year before knee surgery provided me with community, energy, exercise, relief from my other sports injuries, and peace of mind during a challenging year of giving up on my beach volleyball career.

The benefits are endless—no need to look for reasons not to do Qigong. Find a class near you or join an online Qigong Course. You will not regret it!
